Team Member Spotlight: Seagate Property Management

Terry Cahill, Cheif Engineer of 44 Montgomery for Seagate Property Management

Seagate Property Management at 44 Montgomery Street, with a commitment of nearly 17% kW reduction during curtailment events, is the Coalition’s largest commercial real estate contributor. Seagate’s impressive demand response capability is a result of Tom Holman (Director of Engineering) and Terry Cahill’s (Chief Engineer) constant attention to their building’s operations. Along with their sophisticated Energy Management System (EMS) and equipment upgrades, that include replacing three domestic water pumps with smaller more efficient motors and a water-side economizer, the building’s ability to drop significant load, with minimal affect on tenant comfort, is an impressive feat.

“It’s easy to get complacent about your Building Management Systems (BMS),” says Cahill. “Participating in the Business Energy Coalition has helped our engineers look beyond the front end to discover a broader range of energy saving opportunities.” By using the Program’s EnJoin5.0 Smart Energy Management System in conjunction with their building operations, Seagate Property Management has been able to successfully contribute far beyond their committed kW during each of our curtailment days. We appreciate all that Tom, Terry, and the rest of their team are doing and look forward to many more successful Energy Action Days!
